Updated: 2018-11-27 Download InterBase InterBase SQL Server — is a databases management system originally developed by Borland Company. Now the developer of InterBase — Embarcadero Company. The newest version for today is InterBase 2017. Also you can download previous InterBase XE7, XE3, XE and InterBase 2009 SMP.
Hi, I downloaded the Trial. Installed it on my Win2003 machine. The server wouldn't start so I figured Win2003 is not supported/allowed. I installed the trial on my Windows 7 laptop. I chose 32-bit (but the OS is 64 bit), used the same serial number I was given and again the server doesn't continue running.
It stops after a little bit. On both machines I have IB2009 running on the default port. I installed the trial as multi-instance and used the 'instance2'. Should I re-install as 64 bit?
Joe What does your InterBase log say? Does it have something like DEV-MACHINE (Server) Fri Dec 05 16: NO DATABASE NAME Product is not registered. Please register and restart Registration file error: use Registration Code: 7995147 I know the developer's edition does not run until it is registered even though it says a 15 day trail window. The trial probably also needs registering. If so bring up the license manager from the bin directory and register the trial. Jeff Overcash (TeamB) (Please do not email me directly unless asked.
Thank You) And so I patrol in the valley of the shadow of the tricolor I must fear evil. For I am but mortal and mortals can only die. I don't have an interbase log file in the main directory?? There's an install file with errors at the end of it: Could not self-register: c: program files gdsintl.dll Could not self-register: c: program files ibutil.dll Could not self-register: c: ibxml.dll Could not self-register: c: gds32.dll Could not self-register: c: ibutil.dll User Rights: Admin However, I did successfully register the product. The license manager shows that it has been registered. If it is not in the InterBase root directory, look in your programdata embarcadero interbase directory. Not sure why the install is trying to register those as they are not COM dlls.
I see the same in my install log, and mine starts up fine (developer's edition, not trial, but only difference is license). The InterBase.log file will tell you exactly why it won't start. (Fish) I searched the entire disk, there was no interbase.log for XE7.
But, I tried starting the server again and this time it worked! And it also created an interbase.log file. Tried on Windows 2003 but it doesn't startup I guess I can only use the trial from one computer OR Win2003 is not at all supported.
Tried on Windows 2003 but it doesn't startup I guess I can only use the trial from one computer OR Win2003 is not at all supported. This is incorrect. You can install and register the trial on multiple computers. While Windows 2003 technically is unsupported (because it is too old and therefore we no longer test with it), we know of no problems with it and it is expected to work. I was hoping that it would work on 2003, as I use that machine for dev and testing. I removed other Interbase versions (XE3 dev etc).
IB2009 is still installed. Made sure all files were deleted, then I installed IB XE7 again and registered it. Everything went fine.
Made sure to install multi-instance (instance2) and assigned 3054 port (IB2009 uses 3050). When I try to start the server manager a popup windows message states 'Unable to start server'. I also stopped 2009 from running and then again tried starting IB XE7 again same message. Any suggestions?? When I try to start the server manager a popup windows message states 'Unable to start server'. I also stopped 2009 from running and then again tried starting IB XE7 again same message.
Any suggestions?? Almost always, the cause for the server not being able to start is it is not registered successfully.
I do see you have registered an InterBase XE7 trial serial number on 2 different computers. Most recently, about 1 1/2 hours ago as I write this message. Look in Interbase.log and tell us what you see right after trying to start the server. When I try to start the server manager a popup windows message states 'Unable to start server'. It does indicate an error: NO DATABASE NAME Product is not registered.
Please register and restart. Registration file error: use Registration code 977xxxx I tried again and it doesn't log anything in the log file. But still doesn't start. Also, the registration code, when I view via License manager is 101xxxxx. I have no idea that interbase.log should be in c: either. If you select the AppData directory choice under InterBase XE7 in the start menu is where it should be.
However, the interbase.log you have presented indicates the error is what I expect - your server is not registered. You need to run license manager to register it. Also, I can see what registration codes you have used in the past and none start with 977. Don't worry about sharing the entire number. It is unique to your installation. The only way someone else can your serial number is if you provide them your account credentials. Joe Sansalone wrote.
I am interested in investigating why interbase.log got written to c:. Did you install XE7 below Program Files, or somewhere else? Select HKEYLOCALMACHINE SOFTWARE Embarcadero InterBase Servers. What is RootDirectoryRW set to? I suspect is it c:. While I cannot explain why that would be, it would explain why interbase.log is written to c:. Also, look at your ibconfig file look to see where APPDATADIRECTORY is set to.
If it was set to c: it would explain why interbase.log is written c:. Again, I would not know how ibconfig got this way. But it would at least explain why interbase.log is written to c:. Joe Sansalone wrote.
